What Type of Dance Style Should My Child Try? Choosing the right dance style for your child can be a fun and exciting process. Here are some popular dance styles to consider, based on your child's interests and personality:


1.) BALLET


Ideal For: Children who enjoy structured activities and have a natural sense of grace and discipline.

Benefits: Improves posture, flexibility, and discipline. Provides a strong foundation for other dance styles, Foundation of most styles/forms of dance


2.) JAZZ


Ideal For: Energetic children who love upbeat music and expressive movements. Many different variations of Jazz can be done in Jazz class. Jazz Funk, Theatrical/Broadway Jazz, Commercial Jazz, Latin Jazz, Lyrical Jazz - you get the idea. :)

Benefits: Enhances coordination, rhythm, and improvisational skills. Encourages creativity.


3.) HIP HOP


Ideal For: Kids who enjoy freestyle dancing and modern, urban music. Can include tricks/floor work/popping & locking

Benefits: Boosts physical fitness, coordination, and self-expression. Fun and high-energy


4. TAP


Ideal For: Children who enjoy making rhythms and sounds with their feet in combination of movement/coordination.

Benefits: Develops musicality, rhythm, and timing. Strengthens leg muscles and improves balance.


5. CONTEMPORARY


Ideal For: Creative children who like a blend of ballet and modern dance. Includes jumps, turns and floor work.

Benefits: Enhances emotional expression and physical flexibility. Encourages artistic interpretation.


6. ACRO DANCE


Ideal For: Active children who enjoy gymnastics and physical challenges. Learn flexibility and acrobatic tricks/stretching

7. Musical Theatre


Ideal For: Kids who love performing and acting along with dancing.

Tips for Choosing the Right Style:

1. Observe Their Interests: Notice which types of music and movement they naturally gravitate towards.
